View this post on Instagram Union of South Africa - LNER A4 class (same as the world steam locomotive speed record setting Mallard) on its way from York to Carlisle via Settle and the Ribblehead viaduct. It was originally to have been called Osprey fitting in with the bird naming scheme for the class, and was called that for a period in the 80s and 90s following protest over South Africa's then apartheid system.
