View this post on Instagram The Millennium Dome/O2 Arena seen from the Emirates Air Line cable car. 🚠 Boris Johnson was a driving force behind the cable car, which ended up costing over twice the original budget, TfL made up some of the shortfall by obtaining a £10 million grant from the EU 🙄 Tony Blair's government greatly increased the scope of the new millennium celebration from John Major's original plans for something along the lines of the Festival of Britain. It suffered cost overruns and struggled with the tight opening schedule.
