View this post on Instagram Fancy grade 2 listed northern portal on the 1849 Bramhope tunnel built by the Leeds Thirsk Railway. At over two miles long it was the third longest tunnel in the country when built. Sadly it looks like Network Rail have recently (in the last few years) filled the eastern tower which orginally had habitable rooms with fireplaces and a staircase joining the levels. #bramhopetunnel #railwaytunnel #railtunnel #folly #bramhope #arthington #railway #crenellations #railwayarchitecture #exploration #foxgloves #hiddenarchitecture A post shared by John | Exploration and history (@merrytrek) on Jul 3, 2018 at 11:11am PDT
