Deep Adit crosscut at Cononley Lead Mine

View this post on Instagram

Portal to Deep Adit crosscut at Cononley Lead mine. The adit goes south west (going under the beck) and meets the main NW to SE deep level near Taylor's shaft. Processed/dressed ore was tipped down Taylor's shaft via a short tramway which ran over the beck from the Engine House complex into a hopper and ore carts at the bottom. The carts were pushed out by hand along the tramway in this adit which continued on downstream a short distance to the smelting works. 53.9145N, 2.0311W #cononleyleadmines #leadmine #abandonedplaces #mineexploring #yorkshire #abandonedmine
