View this post on Instagram Goit Stock mill chimney and flue. . Goit Stock cotton mill was built in the early nineteenth century by Harden Beck and made use of water power . Later on this cheap, but unreliable, source of power was replaced by steam so this slightly unusual looking chimney and a buried square stone lined flue were built up the hillside to take away the smoke from the boiler house in the mill.
