The works at one time had 22 miles of standard guage railway but after seeing these I discovered there was also a much shorter 2 foot narrow gauge system with three locomotives. The railway system was completely closed down by 1977, a few years after the newly formed Yorkshire Water Authority took over the works from City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council (originally Bradford Corporation). #esholtsewageworks #rails #narrowgaugerailway #railway #reusereducerecycle #industrialheritage #exploring #industrialrailway A post shared by John | Exploration and history (@merrytrek) on Jul 4, 2019 at 11:55am PDT
